Through Healing Wings project, we were working at the provincial house of the Sisters Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa, located in Huruma Slum in Nairobi, when police arrived with a little girl a few weeks they had rescued from a container. She was missing a finger foot because a rat was eating her.
Shocked by what we live, we were interested in this issue and the supirior mother explained that sadly this problem was increasingly in big cities in Africa. In rural areas this problem is not given because awareness of family is much more entrenched and there is always someone who takes care of newborns.
The cause wowed us immediately. This intimate and vital episode happened in October 2012. The project “Suns of Africa” was born well and today is a reality. In July 2013 we bought a proper ground in the area of Kitengela. In April 2014 we begin the construction of this first house and hope to open it in the fall of 2016.
We can not find any other cause more sensitive to the human condition than rescue and help the helplessness of these abandoned babies. Any effort we make is little. They deserve to be rescued and have a dignified life and full of love.
